Overlooking the clear waters of the mediterranean sea and clinging tight to the mountainside, Cargèse is a village and commune in the Corse-du-Sud department of France on the heart of the west coast of the island of Corsica.
The Institute of Scientific Studies in Cargèse is home for high level of physical research. About 30 meetings/conferences are held every year at the institute attracting 1500 to 2000 participants from all over the world.
The University of Corsica’s main campus is also located here, greatly enriching the cultural and intellectual life of the entire community. Founded in 1765 and reopened in 1981, the University of Corsica is a multidisciplinary institution. It is strongly open to the world and so aims at developing a genuine mobility culture among the students.

Cargèse is located on the west cost of Corsica.The closest airport and harbour are located in Ajaccio. Other routes are possible, but please note that public transport in Corsica is minimal: ttp://www.corsicabus.org

Driving through Corsica is pleasant with beautiful landscapes, but takes time.
